Melanotaenia maccullochi are found in only a few areas of Northern Australia, from Burton's Creek in NT, the Upper Cape York area, Mc Ivor River, Daintree River and from Etty Bay South of Cairns in Northern Queensland. They prefer clear flowing water around aquatic plants and Pandanus Palms with ample shelter close by. A beautifull small Rainbowfish and easy to breed, will grow to a max of 7cm but common at 4-6cm.
